My Great Trek to the Midwest

Clinton, OK to Rolla, MO

Day's Route Overview:
Today, will continue on I-40 to Oklahoma City and then Highway 44 Northeast to Rolla, Missouri

A total of 501 miles for the day.

I lost another darned hour of sleep to the time zones. Who invented those things anyhow?
Oklahoma City has a HD Dealer called the Hog House
Evidently, the building used to be a movie theater.
(Unfortunately, this is no longer in business as of 2014)

Check out the paint job on the bike parked there.		  

Two Harley Dealers in Tulsa, I hit this one:

Not too many penguins actually ride Harleys, their
legs are too short.  Check out the boots on this one.

  
Between Tulsa, Oklahoma and Joplin, Missouri there
is a turnpike.  Actually, it's the only way to get there.
I followed it most of the way, turning off in Miami, OK
to follow my Kansas side trip.

On this turnpike there is a rest stop that has a world
famous McDonald's.  On each side of the turnpike,
there is a parking lot and an entrance to the McD's.
You climb the stairs or use the elevator to the third
floor which spans the turnpike.  There you are inside
the restaurant looking down on four lanes of fast
moving traffic.

Ottawa County Courthouse is in Miami

But it is unmarked.  No photo here.

Picked up Quapaw city on the way.

Tried to get a sign with "Kansas" on it.
Baxter Springs, KS was hard to photograph.
The post office in Rivertonworked out okay.
Can't hope for too much by poking my nose into a
corner of the state with only small towns in the area.
