A Fun Visit to Big Sur -- September 27, 2010

Carol and I headed down to Big Sur for the day.

There's a lighthouse just North of Big Sur that Carol saw on the Huell Howser California Gold TV show.
We thought it would be fun to seek it out for a visit.
There's a YouTube Video about the lighthouse.

The day was beautiful, the weather was varied.  It was forecast to be very warm, 90-95, in San Jose.

There was beautiful weather in Moss Landing for an early lunch on the patio of one of our favorites, The Haute Enchilada.

It got much cooler and foggier as we went further South on Highway 1.  The fog hid the lighthouse and we zoomed right by it without realizing.
Continuing South on 1 through Big Sur itself, we finally turn off on a vista point to catch the fabulous views.

There were beautiful turkey vultures soaring overhead.  Had someone told them about my last birthday?

On the way home, we stopped at Ventana in Big Sur for an iced tea and a small bite and a visit to the gallery.

Next stop was in Soquel for dinner.  Neither of us had been to Carpo's before.  We recommend it highly.  The food is good, the portions large, and the prices very good.
We ate too much to consider desert, but the pie looked so good we took some slices home.  It was good.
