In Tulsa, Oklahoma we stopped at
Myers-Duren Harley-Davidson.
I was looking forward to this because
last time I stopped here, they had a 6-foot tall statue of a penguin
in leather out front.
Unfortunately, the penguin was off site for cleaning. But, they
were having a parking lot sale and a club ride which made it fun.
Most of the states we rode through have much a more liberal view of
fireworks than does California.
Fireworks stores the size of our Safeways are common. You can buy
rockets, things that shoot fire, and variaous explosive items.
Quapaw, Oklahoma is a "Q" letter city. I could not resist the
opportunity to stop for the point on my
HOG ABC's.
We rode through the south east corner of Kansas following the old
Route-66.
Along here, there is the alternative US-166 which is a confusing
rerouting, sometimes coincident, sometimes not.
One persisten theme we noted is the pervasive lack of thriving business
in the small towns of the mid-west. Quite depressing.
Having ridden through
Joplin, Missouri we were glad to find
Cycle Connection HD.
HD dealers are always a good place to stop, rest, ask for local
recommendations, etc.
Next stop was
Springfield, Missouri for the night.
