Trip through Utah, Idaho, and Oregon
Photos and Notes from Day 8, Saturday, June 25
Prev. Day |
Today, we rode out of
Utah and into Idaho. Starting in
Provo, we chose to bypass
Salt Lake
City, having both of us been there before and not wanting to
spend the time. Along the way, we found a tiny railroad
museum in
Brigham City, Idaho. A passenger station
built in 1907 and a caboose. We also stopped at a
little cafe, Bert's. Carol asked the waitress how long she
had worked there. About three years. Her best
friend's grandmother owns the place and her grandmother is
her real good friend. Throwback to simpler times when
getting a job did not mean filling out an application.
We later stopped in another little cafe, Mollie's, in a
no-name place about 75 miles east of
Burley, Idaho.
Some pie, some coffee and some milk. All good.
The waitress was a delight. She drives from just
outside of Burley to her job, which she loves, each day. A
round tin of chewing tobacco in her back pocket. |
