Trip through Utah, Idaho, and Oregon

Photos and Notes from Day 7, Friday, June 24

Prev. Day
Last year when we were coming home from our Route-66 trip, we passed through a little town on I-50 named Delta, UT. We stopped in a small cafe and had some of the best berry pie.

A stray thought:  it would only add about 25-30 miles to take a side trip and get some more of that pie.  They were out of berry pie, but a banana cream pie was really good.

Delta has the nicest little park across the street from out pie cafe. Children were playing and climbing all over a pile of rocks with a big water fountain.  We commented that in the Bay Area children would not be allowed to climb lest they be hurt and parents sue.

They are making major improvements(?) to the highway entering, going through, and leaving Provo, Utah.  It was hot, the road surface was broken up and rough, lanes re-routed, traffic heavy, stop and go.  Miserable and we were tired.

Ending the day in , we checked out the local Days Inn motel.  It was inexpensive, but really awful.  The air conditioner would not run and it was hot.  We cancelled our stay and moved half a mile down the road to a Best Western which turned out to be one of the best places we have stayed.
