Trip through Utah, Idaho, and Oregon
Photos and Notes from Day 16, Sunday, July 3

Prev. Day |
We woke up in
Garberville, CA. The motel had a nice spread for
breakfast, but they were obviously overloaded with the
holiday guests.
Started out heading south on Hwy-101. This section is
always beautiful.
At
Leggett, we turned westward to pick up the northern-most
section of Highway-1 in the state. Through the
forested mountains, very windy (curvy, not breezy) and very
steep and very narrow, it was great. Not too much
traffic and no sign of civilization for many, many miles.
Finally, we arrive at the coast and it is beautiful. A
bit further south and we arrive at the little town of
Westport. A picturesque little village whose major
industry seems to be RVers, trailer pullers, motorcyclists,
and other tourists who visit from the Bay Area.
We arrive at
Fort Bragg and visit
Noyo Harbor. |

The day started out on the cool side. As it warmed, a
change of gloves was in order. |

We emerged on Hwy-1 at the coast. |
