Trip through Utah, Idaho, and Oregon
Photos and Notes from Day 15, Saturday, July 2
Prev. Day |
Awakening in
Crescent City, CA, we continued our way down the coast
toward home. We stopped at the
Trees of Mystery,
waved at Paul Bunyon and Babe and spent a buck or two in the
gift shop. When we hit
Eureka, we had to make a stop at Mike's Hamburgers.
As always, the chili cheese burger was without compare.
And, the garlic fries and vanilla shake were exactly as they
should be.
We left Eureka and headed down 101 to the Avenue of the
Giants which is the old Highway-101. Narrow and
twisty, it is hard to believe, but I remember clearly when
this was the highway and full
size 18-wheelers flying through this at highway speeds
barely missing the trees and each other as they passed.
We stopped in at
Williams Grove which brought back many happy memories for me
of family picnics and summer days swimming in the river.
The Best Western in
Garberville had only three rooms left when we arrived.
Only one was non-smoking and it is a large suite. Expensive,
but fabulous. |
