2012 Trip Across America

Photos and Notes from Day 20, Friday, June 8

Previous Day
A Windy Path along the Windy Road

We left North Platte, NE and headed west.  A slight jog took us into Colorado for a  short time.

Our path was windy (not straight) and the strong winds (windy) never let up.

I had to get a Nebraska photo for my ABCs

I-80 is undergoing long stretches of construction

Silos

Colorado has a wonderful visitor center

Eagles are always squabling.

Julesburg is the only place in Colorado through which the Pony Express rode

A little convenience store, it was closed

We met a couple of bikers from Minnesota who had visited many of the same places we did.  They were also pulling a trailer.

Posing for my ABCs Photo for Colorado

Everywhere we go there are large trains passing by

Silos

Sedgewick County courthouse

Julesburg Post Office, I forgot that I need a "J" so we did not take a photo with the bike

Sedgewick County Train Depot

County Museum

Coming back into Nebraska from Colorado

Deuel County courthouse, a "D" for my ABC counties

We had a very nice lunch a a Perkins

Its nice to have classy rest rooms.  Sydney, Nebraska does.

Wyoming photo for my ABCs

Last time through Wyoming, I noted that the winds were strong.  This time too.

Wyoming rest stops are very informative

Laramie Wyoming has a quaint downtown.

And an interesting sky

Some photos shot along the way to give a feel for the road.
This is, after all, a travel-log
