2012 Trip Across America

Photos and Notes from Day 8, Sunday, May 27

Previous Day
A Day Well Spent in Sedona, AZ

We got into Sedona yesterday and fell in love with the area.  The geology is unique and everywhere you look is a "Kodak moment"
We are fortunate enough to be able to spend a whole day just being vacationers and enjoying ourselves.

The town is full of shops and some interesting things and some that are very touristy.  We got going a little early and headed to the Wildflower Bread Company for breakfast.  The little place turned out to be pretty much like a Panera, but much, much better.

After that, we wandered the town and were able to enjoy it before the brunt of the other tourists.  One gallery we came across is run by the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society.  They are exhibiting some really good paintings and having visitors fill out a ballot for the best in show.

We visited a little area called Tlaquepaque with a great deal of very high end art.  There are paintings, glass, sculpture, jewelry, and much more.  A large portion of the items selling for many thousands of dollars.

Looking out from the front door balcony of the motel room.

A cactus flower outside the breakfast place.  Quite lovely.  Did not get my nose close enough to see if it has a smell.

Everywhere you look has views that you cannot help but photograph.

Tlaquepaque has a natural history store that even has a replica of a T-Rex skull found in Mongolia.  Connection with Sedona? Unknown.

In the evening, the light changes completely.  Everything has a new personality.
