It is Déjà Vu All Over Again
Leaving Jackson, we took Highway 22 west. This goes over the
Teton Pass at 8,432 feet elevation. I have to say that this is one
of the most beautiful and enjoyable rides I have had the pleasure to
experience. I rate it easily in my top ten rides of all time.
It is nothing like I was expecting what with the Teton Mountains
being right there. Rather than bare rock, there was some of the
most wondrous forest lands. The road is two-lane but in good
repair and easy riding. The traffic was light and everyone we
encountered acted politely.
It was only about 30-40 miles from Jackson, Wyoming to Victor, Idaho. Then once in Idaho, there was some of the most beautiful, green, huge
fields. I'm sure that some of the verdant nature is due to the
time of year, it being essentially late Spring here.
We planned on stopping in a place called American Falls, Idaho. I had looked at it and thought there were some big motels there. I
was mistaken. We got to American Falls and found that there is no
there there.
I looked for a motel in the GPS. The nearest one was in Burley,
50 miles away. Sigh. We continued on. For some reason,
though, that name seemed familiar. When we got here, we both
recognized the place. This is one of the places we stayed last
year on our trip through Idaho. |
