When You're Where You Want To Be, Stay There

We took a break from our travels and stayed the day in Jackson, Wyoming, aka Jackson Hole.  I learned the city is named Jackson and the general area is known as Jackson Hole.  We wandered around the historic(?) downtown.  It is really a tourist heaven.  Shops, shops, shops.  In the afternoon, we wandered into the Grand Teton National Park.  Breathtaking.

We returned to town and wandered some more.  Then we had supper in a local tavern.  As we walked to the bike to return to the hotel, we noticed people gathering in one corner of the town square.  Joining them, we discovered a local stage company was putting on a cowboy show for us tourists.  Kind of like the one we saw in Williams a few days ago.  Cute, interacted with members of the audience, lots of fun.

In the morning, the weather was beautiful, promising to warm up and NO wind.

We checked out the town

You can have a real stage coach ride if you should want one.

Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
Since we did not ride much today, Carol was anxious to get back in the saddle.

On the way to the Grand Teton National Park there is an elk refuge.  As far as we could see, there are no elk.

We're into the park

We stopped by the road for the views

What can I say?  Fabulous!

There is a full size bronze statue in the town square

There is a nature store with fossils.
This one is from Mongolia

This is a cave bear from the Russian Urals.  Connection with Jackson unknown.
They close off a block of downtown and put on a little skit for us tourist folks.

These are the good guys

This is the bad guy.  He gets it in the end, but so does almost everyone else.

A part of the big shoot out.
