Third Day Agenda Niagara Falls Then Start Toward Laconia
I-90 is a toll road.

We brought lots of change.

Route and Directions

We started the day with a nice breakfast in the hotel.  The hotel had a very good buffet.

We then rode down the Canadian side of the river to a place where they have the jet-boat rides.  These jet boat are great.
Large, flat-bottom boats with three huge water jet engines, it took us up the rapids below the falls.
The main purposes of this ride was to see the beautiful scenery, to take us where we could not otherwise go,
and to get us as wet as possible.  We went up the river and splashed our way in the class-5 rapids.
They provided some rubber jump suits, booties, and parkas, but we got wet to the skin nonetheless.

I bought a group photo they took of us, but it got soaked in a subsequent rain storm and ruined.

We mounted and rode around Niagara Falls, Ontario following signs listing "Alternative Route to US"
which seemed to lead us on an endless circular path.  But going by the falls again was beautiful!

On I-90 to Oneida

I-90, the New York State Thruway, is a toll road across New York State.
There are Travel Plazas where we could access fuel and services without leaving the toll system.

I found it is so much easier to pay the toll when I'm carrying a passenger
since the rider can have the cash in her pocket and hand it to the toll taker.
I don't have to stop, pull off a glove and fish around in my pocket to find the money.

Someone in our group had the previous day had hidden something along the way with which he was fearful of trying to cross the Canadian border.  So we made a detour down the west side of Buffalo to retrieve it, but it had been found by someone else.

The ride to Oneida was very nice once we left Buffalo and got onto I-90 East.

On the way, we got rained on pretty hard and it got dark.
We were treated to some spectacular displays of lightning in the distance and that was thrilling.

Third Night Accommodations Half Way Across New York State
Check in: Sunday, June 15
Check out: Monday, June 16
The last couple hours, it was raining pretty hard.  I was leading the group and
perhaps traveling a bit fast for the conditions, but we all made it safely.

The last five miles along Genesee Street was particularly harrowing.
Wet, unlit, and poor visibility kept us from enjoying this otherwise pleasant stretch.

One huge disappointment:  Oneida, New York sells no liquor at all on Sunday.  Not even a glass of wine.
