San Jose International Airport 11:00 am terminal A flight 46 Chicago O`Hare International Airport arriving: 5:21pm Terminal 3 American Airlines: LIQRRQ Expedia: 77PSHM Well, I'm here safe and sound in spite of a middle seat for 4-1/2 hours When we landed in Chicago, we were about 20 minutes early However, there had been a hail storm earlier and the FAA edicts that every airplane needs to be inspected before it is allowed to leave the gate. Every departing flight was delayed and, as a result, the gates all full. So we sat for half an hour before a gate finally came open Looking out the window, there was no sign of the hail and not even any dampness Weather comes and goes in the strangest way here. No photos today, we all know what the inside of a plane looks like |

Glenview, IL Best Western Plus Glenview-Chicagoland Inn & Suites 4514 W Lake Ave -- 800-568-8520 I scheduled a shuttle ride from the airport and it arrive exactly on time I was the only passenger so it was good The weather is 91 degrees and clear but clouding up And true to the name "Windy City" it is very windy Ate dinner at a restaurant next door, North Branch - Glenview The food was good and they had some nice craft beers on tap (well, at least one was tested and found good) It did bear out a theory of mine: There is only mediocre bread available east of the Rockies I guess being from the Bay Area we are awfully spoiled that way As I walked back to the hotel, it was lightning pretty good cloud to cloud and far enough away to not have thunder, but a strike every 2-3 seconds Update: it is 10:30 and it is raining hard. Lightning like I have not seen before. Every 4=5 seconds there is a spate of 3-6 strikes within one second's time And this time, it is close enough that the thunder is loud and rumbling. The weather forecasts are still calling for sunny tomorrow. We'll see... |
