Southeast States Trip Day 8 Monday June 1, 2015

Today is from Birmingham, AL to Knoxville, TN
Cutting across the NW corner of Georgia

Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes
I woke up in Birmingham, AL andhad a good breakfast at the
Best Western Plus Carlton Suites.  Everything about this motel
was great.
First stop: Riders Harley-Davidson 4750 Horrell Drive in Trussville
Upstairs, they have some vintage bikes

Among these is a Tri-Hawk.
They were a 3-wheeler and had Citroen engines, but were associated with Harley (See more here)

I had an office mate who owned one and rebuilt the engine in his apartment living room.
The day looked to start out threatening rain
but on the good side, the temperatures were mid 70's to mid 80's
Gadsden, Etowah County, AL
"E" Counties aren't all that common, worth a side trip for a photo
So I found the Etowah County Alabama Courthouse
After that, I passed through the north west corner of Georgia
Not much there, so I did not stop
On entering Tennessee there is welcome center
In Chattanooga, TN I stopped by the
Tennessee Valley Railroad and Museum
They have 5-6 hour long excursion rides each day.
Unfortunately, it would be 45 minutes before the next start and I did not want to delay almost two hours.

and then also in Chattanooga, the Thunder Creek Harley-Davidson
I stopped at the Sweetwater Post Office 701 N Main St Sweetwater, TN
and mailed a ton of stuff home.  T-shirts, pins, chips, etc.

About this time the sky was looking much more friendly
I finally arrived in Knoxville, TN and stopped by the
Knoxville Harley-Davidson - West just south of town

Hotel: Comfort Suites - Knoxville 811 N Campbell Station Road

Five bucks more and I can have a suite.  I could get used to this.

I wanted to have supper at the close by Cracker Barrel restaurant and I  hoped to walk there.
It is on the other side of the freeway.
When I investigated, there was not a way to get there on foot so I got on the bike.
There are no sidewalks through the overpass and fast traffic.  Doesn't anyone walk in these southern states?

As I finished and got ready to ride back to the motel, the wind came up and it began to rain.
Fortunately, it only sprinkled by the time I got back.
Then it really opened up and poured.  About half an hour later, it was all over and a rainbow appeared.
