| Day's Route Overview: Today the plan was to try to push on through to Kansas City, Kansas. When I got there and got the photo of the Harley factory, I started to look for a place for the night. Everybody I tried was either full or had no non-smoking rooms left. Finally, I found a place in a Holiday Inn in Lawrence, Kansas which is about half way between Kansas City and Topeka. | The first jaunt through Illinois did not afford me
an opportunity to get a photo for the state. I remedied this
at a convenient rest stop. This morning, the weather could not be better. |

| Mount Vernon, Illinois is the next good distance
for a rest and refueling and it has a HD dealer.

| Of course, I had to get a photo for the state of Missouri. I found their Firefighters' Memorial and Museum. They weren't open. |

| The trip through St. Louis was almost as bad as the
one through Chicago. The only differences are that the
pavement here was decent. But the traffic was heavier. I
wouldn't have thought that the time I went through was rush hour,
but there sure were a lot of cars!
Last time I went through St. Louis, I didn't like it too. On the south side of St. Louis, Missouri there is a
Harley-Davidson dealer. The path I had to take was through the north part of town. With the traffic, I was not about to divert to the south for this dealerhip |
