My Second Trek to the Midwest
Day 11, Wednesday, July 4, 2007

Bloomington,  Indiana
Today was a day to visit folks in and around Bloomington.  I did go out riding but just to give Lola a bath at the local coin operated car wash and to fill the tank.

I was lucky enough to spend a nice Fourth of July in the great Midwest with good friends.

I finally got to meet Petey.  He's a wonderful pup with a very good personality.  An avid reader, he absolutely devours books.

Yogi remembered me from the last time we met perhaps four years ago.  First sniff and he and I were old friends again.

Maureen and I went up to Terre Haute and spent the afternoon with her sister Stacy, their mother Hope and their good friend Carol.  Stacy and Hope prepared a wonderful meal for us.  Actually it lasted all afternoon.  How better to spend the fourth than with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, Bush's baked beans, strawberries and short cake and good friends around a patio table.

Of course, the political conversations changed no one's minds.  The views and attitudes of everyone has long ago been set and there's no changing it now.  Fortunately, it was all in the spirit of friendly discussion rather than heated argument and when we parted there were hugs all around.

Rumor has it that Hope is telling all her friends that she has a Harley rider sleeping in her bed.
