Yesterday's rain has taken it's toll My Garmin Nuvi 2595 GPS, that I really like, has swallowed too much water. It tried heroically to get us where we had to go yesterday, but this morning it succumbed to it's injuries. Hopeful, I hiked over to Wal-Mart close by and purchased a new Garmin GPS model 52LM A 5 inch Nuvi to replace a 5 inch Nuvi simple, yes? No! The outside dimensions are different and the mounting gear that holds it on the bike will not fit. I can wedge it in and it seems to be securely held, but the power cord plugs into a different spot. The mount is plastic, I can modify it to fit. No tools. A trip to Lowe's solved that. The mount now looks like a beaver gnawed on it, appropriate for Oregon? It holds and works, but they "upgraded" the manner of presenting routing instructions. A much worse arrangement for me. More confusing than helpful at times. Sigh |

This morning, after the GPS adventure, we visited Zelda and
William in Gresham and saw their new (to them) house. It is beautiful. 
 Then we all drove into downtown Portland to have lunch at a Jewish deli

One of the reasons we came to
Portland at this time is the 27th annual Oregon Brew Fest in Waterfront Park Our friends Karen and John mentioned that they were going and we thought it would be fun to join them. 
 
Hundreds of craft brewers from all over the US and also from other countries brought kegs of their beer to be enjoyed by thousands of people. It was a lot of fun We were smart, a Max light rail station is about 3 blocks from the hotel and another is about 5 blocks from the festival. A 15 minute ride each way and we came and went safely and conveniently 
 Rather than eat from some of the food booths, which did look and smell good, K&J mentioned that they had a good place to have dinner. Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub.  Good food, good atmosphere, and good friends |
