2014 Portland Trip Day 9 Tuesday July 29

Today We Are Exploring Ashland
Famous for Its Shakespeare connections

Ashland, Oregon
We awoke in the Best Western Windsor Inn - Ashland
and  enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.  Standard fare, crowded

All in all, it is a very nice motel located on the south end of Ashland
Carol and I headed downtown to see what there was to see

There were a number of quilting and fabric stores
One of which had some very interesting print  patterns
We visited the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Courtyard
The play tonight is Richard III, not all that exciting and did not start until 8:00 PM

Carol and I had lunch in the Standing Stone Brewing Company

Lunch was good and they offer a flight with 8 tasters of their brews.
All tasted good, brewed on premises
I had packed just the right number of socks to last the trip with one washing
however, while riding and walking in my boots, several developed holes
So we looked for a store that sold socks.
None in Ashland except expensive designer stuff so we headed into Medford for a Wal-Mart

They drink a lot of coffee in Oregon and thus have a lot of coffee kiosks
the name of this one tickled Carol's fancy
We gathered to go out to supper and suddenly there was a big thuderstorm
over the top of the motel and, I imagine, all of Ashland
Thunder, Lightening and lots of rain

We all took a taxi and headed downtown
Most agreed on Italian and we found the
Pasta Piatti

It was nice and we even had a musician not 8 feet from our table
