Today we are on the road again |
Portland to The Dalles -- 90 Miles | |
Throughout our stay in
Portland the
Best
Western Inn At The Meadows has been amazingly comfortable. They gave us an upgraded suite at a very reasonable price. The hotel was fully booked, but did not seem crowded |
|
We met with Rhonda and Garron and headed out through the
Columbia River Gorge The views are beautiful |
|
There is a national recreation area at Multnomah Falls. There is an upper falls, a cascade across which is a 100 year old bridge, and a lower falls To visit, we stopped in the Multnomah Falls Rest Area I-84 exit 31 on left We took the hike up to the historic bridge at the falls |
|
We stopped in the town of
Hood River for lunch I had thought it might be fun to eat at the Double Mountain Brewery but it proved to be too loud and boisterous Up the street is the Passport Pub & Cafe which proved adequate |
|
The gorge is also a main route for the railroad. We passed several trains in close proximity to the highway and one pair of trains going in opposite directions |
|
Our destination for the day was a town called
The Dalles According to Wikipedia, the name derives from French for sluice We are staying at Cousins` Inn - The Dalles 2114 W 6th St and we had dinner at Cousins' Restaurant & Lounge I had stopped here once before with my granson Tylor and we had fun |
