This, the first day of the DC trip is between |
San Jose, CA to Falls Church, VA | |
San Jose International Airport We boarded a 757, Don't remember flying in one of these before but it is not remarkable. Still has CRT screens for the movie. Wonder where they get spare parts... The leg room is not too roomy. What do tall people do? The Sierra Nevada Mountains are very pretty with snow covered peaks |

Denver International Airport Inside the airport is a Harley-Davidson Boutique. Of course I visited it. When we arrived in Denver, we noted that the gate to continue was right near where we deplaned. Turned out that we got back on the same airplane but about 10 rows further back |

Descending into
Dulles International Airport over the Virginia countryside looked
very pretty Must be human nature. When we rolled to a stop everyong stood up and tried to crowd into the aisle. Was in row 34 about 3/4 way back and knew it would take 10 minutes for the people ahead to get off so just patiently sat there, relaxed and relatively uncrowded. |

Heading from the airport to
Falls Church, took a taxi. As we barrelled down the freeway, he was trying to get directions on his iPhone The route was probably the shortest by time, but taxis charge by the mile. Funny, it cost $300 for two people to fly across country, but an additional $120 just to get to and from the airports. |

Budget Inn, Falls Church reserved 3/3/14 on credit card, non-smoking double-double, Sr. rate I called again on 4/14 to reconfirm. Got here and the clerk had no record of the reservation. She had to call the manager and there was no memory of our reservation. After about 10-12 minutes, the clerk mentioned that she had several empty rooms. So register us already! It's cold here this evening, about 47 degrees. Next door is an Italian restaurant that turned out to be very good. The name is Italian Cafe and the food is, as you guessed, "Italian Cuisine" |
