It Is Our Last Day Before Heading Home |
Places Visited Photos, and Notes |
Woke up to find rain as forecast. After breakfast headed over to the district umbrellas in hand. The nearest building was the Natural History Museum so we ducked through. |
There was a wonderful
exhibit of the photographs of Garry Winogrand Unfortunately, taking of photos of the photographs was not allowed. |
Spetd about two hours in the National Museum of Art Since the previous visit did not even begin to scratch the surface. There are rooms and rooms. These two photos show views from one gallery through a second and into a third. In one, they had some military theme. A metalic relief work about 12 feet tall depicts a Union General with a regiment of freed slaves. The horse is almost life size. |
Finally, with a sad heart, it was time to leave DC for the last
time this trip A last photo of the Smithsonian Castle with the statue of Smithson. |
In the evening, we sat in the bar on the 17th floor of the Holiday Inn Rosslyn @ Key Bridge and had a glass of wine. Met and had pleasant conversation with a man named Gary. He lives in Florida and has a second place in California. A fellow rider, he has a Triumph. We exchanged emails and if ever he's in the bay area, I hope he looks us up. |
