We start in Salisbury, MD and head to Falls Church, VA |
Salisbury, MD to Falls Church, VA - 124 miles |
Started the day in
Salisbury, MD and it was about 42 degrees. I don't remember the DC area being this cold. Of course, I had always before been here in a rental car. |
Rode by
Seaford, DE and stopped by Rommel Harley-Davidson Seaford, It was 9:30 and the store did not open until 10:00. Moved on. |
In
Denton, MD, stopped at a Mickey-D's for
a cup of coffee. There was a nice, older couple with whom we chatted. He used to ride a Harley. Unfortunately a stroke weakened his right side and ended that for him. |
Having already seen Annapolis, MD, buzzed on through. |
The bridges over the various waterways of the Chesapeake Bay are
picturesque Crossed the same Chesapeake bridge that we had the first day on the bike in the opposite direction |
The next hour and a quarter was not fun. All freeway. Traffic was heavy and road surface was terrible, and full of crazy drivers. Every two or three minutes someone would buzz by weaving in and out. We rode about 40 miles om the Beltline around the north side of the District. Map We came from the east on 50 and out the west onto 267 |
The nearest Harley dealer to DC is in Reston,
Patriot Harley-Davidson Did stop there. A more disheveled store I have not come across. But, of course, I bought a shirt, some chips and a pin. |
Turn in the motorcycle at
EagleRider of D.C.
open 9-5 435 S. Washington Street, Falls Church, VA, Returned the bike in good shape. They were nice enough to give us a ride to the nearest Metro Station Figuring out the fares and ticket machines was a challenge but with the help of a station attendant, we were able to get on |
I reserved a room for five nights at
Holiday Inn Rosslyn @ Key Bridge Confirmation #67559069 Hotel Front Desk: 1-703-80720001 1900 N Fort Myer Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22209 The nearest Metro station is only about three blocks so it is convenient Had to schlep the luggage, but maybe this is the last time for this trip |
