The road to Bend consists of long
stretches with few stops. Last time in Bend, we were in a hurry to reach the West Coast, this time we are can be more leisurely. |
Leaving
Burns (A) there were a few rich farmlands but mostly high desert Mile and miles of high desert. How high? Up to 4,700 feet, no lower than 3,500 feet. At some points side roads went off to ranches, at other points, seemingly nowhere |
Hampton is a very little town with population of about 2-3 families. There is a cafe and a non-operating gas pump. We stopped by here in 2011. Since then, it has change owners, but nothing else |
Brothers is very sparse and small, we sailed through |
Millican is a small city whose population has varied between 3 and 7
and 0 and is now at 1 This is one of those small towns that gets bought and sold periodically |
As we approached
Bend (B) the land got much more arrible. It has about a billion microbreweries and pubs. One of the more famous is the Deschutes Brewery. They also have a pub and restaurant in Bend, the Deschutes Brewery Bend Public House We sampled some of their beers on tap and they were all good. We also had dinner, also very good. |
