Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes

This was a dash to home, down I-5 and then west in I-80, then south to San Jose.

We started off in Corning and headed down I-5

We took a brief stop in Willows to get a photo of the Glenn County Courthouse
for my ABC's. Unfortunately, the only sign on the building said Courthouse.
No reference to the county name. Across the street however...

Continuing on down I-5 for what seemed like forever,
A little soap box time:
There are many signs that decry the government for one reason or another
Frequently, these deal with water allocations.
We see the signs that say "Farmers feed America" as if there were true altruism involved.
There is a farmer in Oregon who is growing hay and cattle in the high desert.
He prospers with what nature give him without expecting government handouts.
He is not unique by any means nor are the kvetchers here in California.

We have all read stories about a tornado where a straw was blown into a tree like a nail
Hay trucks shed straws as they head down the highway.
Since they have little weight, they immediately slow to zero miles per hour.
Since you are travelling at highway speed, they come at you at 70 mph.
When you are hit by one straight on, you believe the tree stories

There are large fields of dried up sunflowers. They are concentrating the oil in the seeds

We stopped in Winters for lunch at the Putah Creek Cafe
As featured on the Food Network. A very good place for a late breakfast

It was the day of the Earthquake Festival but we did not stick around

I-80 between Vacaville and Vallejo always has heavy traffic
